It all began at Colonial Beach High School in 2017 — Seth and I became friends and started dating that year. We have been best friends ever since.
Seth proposed on September 19th, 2023 on our hometown beach at sunset. I thought I was there to help my sister, Reilly, out by modeling for her photography. The modeling consisted of us dancing and painting. We took turns painting and when it was Seth’s turn to paint he convinced me that he was going to paint a portrait of me. Reilly brought a pretty chair out that was once owned by my sweet step sister Kallie for me to sit in while he painted his portrait. Reilly knew what Seth’s plans were and was so giddy for me. She captured the moment I ran up to see the “portrait” he did and I was so surprised to instead see in Seth’s handwriting, the words “Will you marry me” painted on the canvas.
Every detail was perfect.
I also looked through all of Reilly’s dresses to wear for the shoot and I just so happened to pick the dress she got married in, with no clue of what was to come!
All of the little details that went into the proposal perfectly represent what our relationship has been built on — One being that we have always felt intentionally valued and seen by one another to be exactly who God created us to be, even if that means one of us has to play music no matter what we are doing and the other enjoys the silence.
Another detail is how important our families are to the both of us. A big part of who we are comes from spending quality time with family on Saturday nights at Grandma Nancy's to spending time with our nieces and nephews everyday in between.
Lastly, no matter the location it’s always been the most fun adventure of a lifetime when we are together. From being on the homecoming court together our freshman year, to playing basketball together everyday at school, and now getting married in my Uncle and Aunts backyard where we spent most of our summers swimming in the pool together as kids.
Seth and I can’t wait for you all to join us on June 1st to celebrate how good God has been to us these past 7 years and we want to thank you all for being part of that goodness!
Love, Kenna and Seth!
